At Thai Buddy Travel we do not promote elephant tourism. If you are thinking of travelling to Thailand and would like to visit and interact with elephants please stay away from places that allow visitors to ride elephants, watch them perform tricks and act in shows. There are rescue camps listed below that treat the elephants ethically, providing a safe and loving sanctuary for them.

At these sanctuaries you can bathe, feed and walk alongside the elephants that have been rescued from circuses and other camps that use them to perform for money. It is always ideal to do your research on the best elephant rescue camps, here I have included some of the most mentioned and best recommended sanctuaries for these endangered elephants. But by all means do your own research to ensure you are happy with the way the elephants are being treated.

Elephant Nature Park, Chiang Mai & Kanchanaburi

One of the most highly recommended in Chiang Mai if not Thailand, visitors of ENP have verified there are no bull hooks insight. They also offer an overnight stay package for visitors. Various packages may include walking, bathing and feeding the elephants.

Elephant Haven, Kanchanaburi

Visitors get to prepare the elephant's food and take them for a mud bath. Elephant Haven is cruelty free and this place does not offer riding and performance of the elephants. Here elephants are able to roam freely within their camp. Elephant Haven is approx 3 hours drive from Bangkok.

Bees Elephant Sanctuary, Chiang Mai

Founded by Aussie Emily and her Thai hubby Burm, they opened a sanctuary where they home old and retired elephants needing care. However, not only do they care for elephants but also cats and dogs. Visitors are also able to stay and volunteer at the sanctuary for a number of days.

Elephant Hills National Park (Tented Camp), Khao Sok

At Elephant Hills their recommended tours include Couples Tour, Senior Tours, Family Tours & Solo Tours. Each tour package lasts between 3-4 days.

Boon Lott Elephant Sanctuary, Sukhothai

Although Boon Lott has received previous negative feedback regarding their communication, there has not been any complaints on their sanctuary and the treatment of the elephants. In terms of their treatment and care for the elephants they have received great reviews and visitors have had an enjoyable experience. Please feel free to read up on their reviews on TripAdvisor and decide for yourself before making any bookings.
